What is an Orthotic?
Orthotics are prescription custom made devices that correct or accommodate you specific foot variation. Orthotics work on the feet in the same way braces work for your teeth. An orthotic exerts gentle consistent pressure to bring the foot muscles and bones back into proper alignment.
An orthotic will comfortably restore normal balance and mechanics to relieve fatigue and pain. There are many different shapes and materials used to construct your orthotics ranging from thermoplastics, cork and dense foams. They fit comfortably and can be interchanged between different shoes and boots. The devices are always made from biomechanical measurements and cast impressions of your feet.
How do you find out if you need Orthotics?
Only a qualified health practitioner can effectively assess whether or not you need orthotics. If problems with your feet are not treated effectively, it can lead to other physical difficulties. Do not be tempted to buy over the counter pre-packaged products. These products are not designed for your specific foot problem or mechanics and can actually worsen your condition.
